Don’t be pressured by your insurance company! You have the right by law to choose where your car is repaired. The following is an excerpt from the “Required Notice to Insurance Consumers” on Motor Vehicle Repairs.
Under Texas Law, you have the right to select the repairer of your choice and the parts used for repairs. However, an insurance company is required by law to pay only the reasonable cost for repairs and parts necessary to return your vehicle to the condition it was in prior to the loss. Your rights and obligations are explained in more detail in your insurance policy contract and in Article 5.07-1 of the Texas Insurance Code.
